Maisey is sweet, affectionate, and not afraid to take up all the room on the couch. Inside, Maisey is not timid - she will soundly sleep right next to you and give you plenty of kisses. She is slowly learning how to play with toys and how to actually squeak a squeaky ball. She will also quickly be your shadow and follow you around your home. While Maisey is new to New York, she is working hard to adjust to the lifestyle and the noise. She is nervous when leaving the safety of the indoors, particularly when there are a lot of people, moving cars, and loud noises. She will pant, shake, and pull her tail between her legs. We have been going on shorter walks and providing positive reinforcement (treats!) so she does not get too overwhelmed outside. Each walk there are times she seems more comfortable with her surroundings but then may be triggered by a loud noise. She is always very excited to reach the building door to be back inside. However, Maisey is fully house trained and crate trained (very calm and quiet when left home).
Maisey is approximately 3y 0m 29d old and is fully grown at 68 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done.
Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.

Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
