Lia traveled all the way from Mexico to find her person, and let us be honest: a girl who crosses borders for love is not someone you swipe left on. She is, without exaggeration, the whole paw-ckage.
Here is what makes Lia so paws-itively special: give her less than twenty-four hours and this girl will become your best friend and refuse to leave your side. She doesn't believe in playing it cool. She believes in you. Once she's decided you're her person, you will feel it in a way that's difficult to describe. She will curl up beside you, melted on top of you, woven into the fabric of your daily life in the most wonderful way. She will make you feel like the most loved person on the planet. Fur real.
And speaking of love, Lia is a world-class cuddler. We're talking Olympic-level snuggling. Gold medal, no contest. If cuddling were a career, she'd be CEO (Chief Embracing Officer).
Now, every queen has her preferences. Lia likes to warm up to new people on her own terms before you go in for the overhead pets or the booty scratches. But she loves to meet any new friend who's willing to let her have a gentle sniff, and once she does, that tail starts going like a furry little windshield wiper.
Out on the town, Lia is an absolute dream. She walks beautifully on leash and greets every outing with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you remember why you got a dog in the first place. This girl treats every walk like it's the Super Bowl and she just got drafted. Subway-seasoned and city-savvy, she handles New York like a pro.
She is fully house-trained, never touches a thing she shouldn't, and knows "sit" (because she is both beautiful AND smart, a real tail of two talents). She learns quickly, and she has a gloriously silly side: zoomies at the park, a toy collection she takes very seriously, and a playfulness that sneaks up on you right when you least expect it. Peak comedy with four legs.
In her current foster home, Lia happily resides with a dog the same size as her and a cat, so she is no stranger to a multi-species household. She is not a fan of dogs larger than her. She would thrive as an only dog or could share a home with a calm, confident dog her size or smaller. Small children would not be a good fit for Lia. She simply needs a quieter, steadier energy than that environment tends to offer. A calmer, lower-traffic home is not a boring home. It is exactly the kind of home where Lia will bloom.
Does she get a little sad when you leave? Yes. Will she bark about it? Nope. She's not dramatic about it. She just misses you.
Lia is gentle, hopeful, and ready to give everything she has to the right home. She is a sweetheart through and through, the kind of dog who makes you wonder what you ever did to deserve something this good. The people who earn her love will tell you it was the best thing that ever happened to them.

Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention.

It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.
Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
