About Peanut

Peanut is a 2–3-year-old Chihuahua who was found as a stray in the desert before making his way into rescue and, just in time for the holidays, a loving foster home. When Peanut first arrived, he was scared, shy, and unsure of the world around him. It took him some time to learn that he was safe and that he could trust his foster family. Since then, he has truly blossomed into a sweet little guy with a calm, submissive nature who is happiest curled up in someone’s arms soaking up affection.

While Peanut can still be a bit timid when meeting new people and in unfamiliar situations, he warms up with patience and kindness, and once he trusts you, his loving personality shines through.

Peanut is wonderfully low-maintenance. A short walk around the block is enough to tire him out, and then he’s content to relax by your side. He’s also playful, smart, and happily goes into his crate on his own when he wants some downtime.

He gets along beautifully with other dogs and is currently living with a senior dog, whose boundaries and cues he respects with ease. Peanut has also spent time around children and enjoys their energy, making him a great fit for a home with gentle, respectful kids.

Easygoing, affectionate, and perfectly content when left alone for reasonable periods, Peanut is ready to find the family he’s been waiting for.

Chihuahua temperament

Bold and deeply bonded to one or two people. Chihuahuas are often wary of strangers and can be snappy if they were never taught that hands are safe — early gentle socialization matters.

Exercise

Low — short walks and indoor play are plenty.

In an LA apartment

Extremely apartment-friendly and easy to carry on the subway. They get cold fast and need a sweater most of the winter.
