Adopting a dog in Los Angeles

How do I adopt a dog in LA?

Open any dog above and use the button at the bottom of its page. Some LA rescues take email inquiries; most ask for an adoption application first. LUVD sends you to whichever step that rescue actually requires, so you don't get bounced.

Which rescues does LUVD cover?

LUVD follows A Purposeful Rescue, Love Leo Rescue, The Animal Rescue Mission and Wagmor Pets. We check all of them every morning and show you what's new, so you don't have to keep a dozen tabs open.

What does it cost to adopt in LA?

Fees are set by each rescue and usually run about $150–$500, typically covering spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchipping. Where a rescue publishes the fee, it's shown on that dog's page.

Which dogs work in an apartment?

Every dog gets an apartment-fit rating alongside energy level and how much dog experience it needs. These are estimates drawn from the rescue's own write-up and breed tendencies — the rescue knows the individual dog best.
