About Butterball

Meet Sadie McButterball, an 8-year-old American Bully with a story that could’ve ended very differently.

She was found alone in a yard, collapsing, gasping for air, and actively bleeding from a ruptured mammary mass. Rushed to emergency care, doctors stabilized her and discovered she was newly postpartum and also struggling with an elongated soft palate that made breathing even harder during the crisis.

Today, Butterball is a whole new girl. Her mass was successfully removed with the best possible news: no cancer. She’s now fully medically cleared, breathing comfortably after BOAS surgery, and officially retired from motherhood forever after being spayed.

Butterball is sweet, affectionate, loves short walks, naps like a professional, and adores making new dog friends. She’s great with dogs of all sizes, kids 8+, and even lived with a cat. 🩷

Mixed / Unknown breed temperament

Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.

Exercise

Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

In an LA apartment

Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
